October 17, 2009 — Youth Catch & Release Fishing Event — Guests 16 and younger accompanied by an adult are invited to enjoy catch and release saltwater fishing. Anglers must bring their own gear and bait with barb-less hooks; no artificial bait or treble hooks. Volunteers and staff will be on hand to assist first-time anglers. Pack your sunscreen, hat, lawn chair and fishing gear for a morning of fishing at our marine fish hatchery and visitor education center in Lake Jackson. 10 a.m.-noon (979) 292-0100.

October Fun

Saturday, Oct. 10th - Sea Center - Lake Jackson - Aquarium and Hatchery Tours - saltwater aquariums showcasing the diversity of the Texas coast and tour the redfish hatchery. Visitor Center hours are Tuesday through Saturday 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday 1-4 p.m.; hatchery tours by reservation only; free admission and tours; for more information call (979) 292-0100

Tuesday, Oct 13th - The Wolves are going to the Sports Card Shack, 13018 Woodforest, just west of Uvalde. The boys will get a patch and a free collectors kit filled with baseball cards. Jay has asked if any other scouts want to join them. If you want to go you MUST email me and let me know. They need an accurate count of how many boys will attend (so there are enough supplies). This is a great opportunity. Thanks Jay!!!

Saturday, Oct. 24th - 5-8pm Haunted Homestead (Jesse H. Jones Park) Take a hayride in the woods and enjoy a family-oriented, PG rated spooky homestead. Then let the woodland creatures and sounds escort you down the jack-o-lantern-lit trail. Costumed trick-or-treaters are encouraged, and treats end at dark or when supplies run out. Bring a flashlight.
